As for me, sorry for the extremely long blog break that will have to go on slightly longer. I just feel like I need a break. This "hobby" of mine became too demanding in my own mind.

Excuse me. If doctors want a cap on malpractice damages, you need to couple it with a cap on compensation and the price of procedures, drugs, hospital stays, paramedics, etc.
Otherwise it's just bad form and rather greedy to boot. You can avoid malpractice suits in the first place by:
1. doing a better job
2. having a pleasing personality and showing respect and concern for patients and their families
Even if you can't do #1, doing #2 really helps even if you have to fake it.
First malpractice suits are filed whether or not the doctor is polite or not, typically the suits that are filed are from those trying to abuse the system, and the juries in lots of cases are too dumb to even realize how stupid the cases can be. "The doctor prescribed me medicine, i didn't get it tho, but i never got better. . . These dumb doctors can't help anyone." The sad thing is the lady who did that, won her case. . . Malpractice reform is not to wrong those with genuine malpractice suits, but to keep the stupid ones from getting awarded ridiculous amounts of money.
The main reason Doctors are sued according to 2 different malpractice insurers are lack of communication and surprise. I can attest to this. If you guys are too damn busy to talk to your patient and give them risks, a true accounting of what will happen etc. and your patient is uhnpleasantly surprised... You get a visit from an attorney. Some patients require more time than others. Be glad that all patients aren't like this. It is so hard to sue a Doctor any more that the Doctors are getting careless and dismissive. That is my experience.
